Support groups can be a great way to connect with other special dieters who are dealing with many of the same challenges, frustrations and questions that you are. There are hundreds of groups throughout the US and Canada helping people deal with Celiac Disease, food allergies, autism, and other health concerns. There are even groups specifically for moms, parents, kids and teens. Find support groups in your area by checking online or start your own. If online support groups are more appealing, check out kidswithfoodallergies.org.
Working with a registered dietitian (RD) or health care professional that assists in special dietary needs can be very helpful. They can teach you about what foods you can and cannot eat, help with menu planning, recommend products and answer specific diet questions for you. Ask your allergist or physician for a referral.
